How To Add A Tag Cloud To Your WordPress Blog

In this tutorial we will look at how to add a simple Tag Cloud to your WordPress Blog. Please note that I am using a free WordPress Blog and using the Twenty Ten theme. If you are using a different theme, the process will be similar.

Right, first head to your Dashboard which can be found at the top of your WordPress page and clicking on (or just hover over)  Blog>Dashboard.

You should now see your Dashboard which is your main area for basic notifications such as a stats summary, comments etc. On the left, scroll down to Appearance. Next to the word Appearance you will see the drop down arrow that will show/ hide the sub-categories. Click this and select Widgets.

Towards the bottom of the Widgets window, you will see Tag Cloud. Select this and drag it over to the right of the window and place it (release it) where you would like it to show on your blog.

As you can see in my one I chose to have it positioned just below my Follow Me button for my Twitter account.

Now just give it a name such as My Tags or just simply Tag Cloud and then hit Save

Now just go to your latest post and you should now see your new Tag Cloud displayed where you wanted it.

If you were wanting to have a Category Cloud instead of a Tag Cloud, then you can find the Category Cloud widget located in the Widgets panel (where you found the Tag Cloud widget) and follow the same precedure.

Hope this has helped.
