Amazon have revealed their initial prices for Microsoft’s next generation gaming console, the Xbox One on their UK, German and French stores. The prices are all currently showing at the £599.99 mark, but it should be stressed that this figure is only a placeholder figure due to Microsoft having not officially released a figure yet, so you can fully expect this price to drop later. The official price is expected to be announced at this E3 event which takes place in Los Angeles between June 11th-13th.
When the Xbox 360 first launched on November 22nd 2005 it was priced at £209.00, which is why a lot of people may be surprised at this apparent price hike. However, as stated above it is merely the placeholder price, and most are expecting the Xbox One to be priced at the more reasonable £400-450 mark, given the hardware upgrade this unit has over its predecessor. There is still no word on the official release date either for the Xbox One although it is set to launch in 2013 sometime, so expect this to be late 2013. That said, it could be around November 5th 2013, as this is the release date for Call of Duty: Ghosts which is one of the confirmed games for the Xbox One. I guess we’ll find out at this years E3.
