If there is one thing that really sticks out to me when playing GTA over the years, it has to be the vast amount of artistic detail that goes into creating the game. If you have spent any time at all playing the game, or have watched someone else play then you will know what I mean. That said, the artistic team led by Aaron Garbut who has been the art director at Rockstar North in Edinburgh since 2001 when GTA 3 was released, have really outdone themselves in creating a digital recreation of Southern California for GTA V.
To get the detail required for the latest game, Rockstar sent out a large team of people who shot over 250,000 images of Los Angeles along with many hours worth of video to aid with the final design of the fictional Los Santos and surrounding Blaine County, that millions of gamers are currently exploring in GTA V. The other very noticeable thing about the game, which for me really stands out, is the lighting of the map as you explore it either at night or during the day. The Sun especially is really well done creating almost tangible sunsets that you can’t help but stop to look at. So with that, check out some of the fantastic postcards that can be seen in the game either on billboards or via cut scenes.
