The hype machine is now in full swing for tonight’s Super Bowl 49, that will see the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots face off against each other at the University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona. For US based users, the solution is very simple as you can simply watch the game via NBC’s main site. However, when it comes to people outside of the US being able to watch the Super Bowl live, things can get a bit tricky, so I will be showing you some of the various ways in which you can access a live stream to watch tonight’s game.
The main, and simplest method is to use a decent VPN service which will enable you to have access to a US server, so you can simply go to one of the official sites in the US that will be streaming the event like NFL.com or NBCSports.com. The two best VPN services that I have used in the past that you can choose from are CactusVPN or Private Internet Access (PIA). Both of these services are highly regarded, offer monthly or annual signups and are very cheap, as well as being easy to use. The other benefit of course to being able to have access to a VPN service is that you will no longer have to put up with geographic restricted sites like the BBC iPlayer in the UK or Hulu in the US as well as downloading torrents securely without your ISP monitoring you or simply using unsecured wireless connections securely. Below are reviews for both CactusVPN and Private Internet Access are below:
For those in the UK, things are easier as BBC 2 will be streaming the live event for free starting from 22:30hrs GMT. If you are not in the UK or US and want to have access to BBC 2’s coverage of the big game, then using either of the VPN’s mentioned above will give you easy access. Also, UK viewers can watch the game for free via TVCatchup and just head to BBC 2.
[Link updated for Superbowl 50 as I could see people using this article from last year. The link now points to BBC 2 via TVCatchup and works fine. A VPN (links above) like CactusVPN or Private Internet Access will be required for people outside the UK ] – Enjoy the game.
If you are not in the UK or US, then you will require a VPN to access TVCatchup which is basically a freely available site that broadcasts every free channel available to people in the UK. It can also be easily watched on any Android or iOS device without having to download anything.

I will be adding to the list of available sites in which you can watch tonight’s game as we get closer to the big game. If you have any tips for decent sites (official or otherwise) leave a comment below and I will take a look at it and add to the rest.
